The 2025 Basildon Closed saw plenty of success for Basildon TTC players. The event took place at Sweyne Park School over the weekend of May 10th – 11th. Several events reached a conclusion, where there was success for Eric Green (runner-up in the Premier Restricted), Bob Skews (runner-up in the Div 1 Restricted), Tina Hutchinson (Ladies Doubles winner w/ Dawn Baldry) and Sarah Ball (runner-up in Handicap Singles).

The finals night took place at Basildon TTC on Thursday 15th May. The turnout was great and there was plenty of support for the players. Once again, there was plenty more success for our players. Impressively, there was a Basildon TTC player featured in every match of the night!

The surprise pairing of Eric Green & Debbie O’Neill reached the Veterans Doubles final and nearly went all the way, but were eventually thwarted by Kevin Read (Selbourne TTC) & George Reeves (Hockley TTC). Ian Wall won the Mens Doubles with partner Mitch Jones, at the expense of clubmates Daniel Bronziet & Reece Seddon. Eric Green finished runner-up in the Veterans Over 60s.

After a short break and the presentation of the league and cup trophies, play resumed with the Mixed Doubles final. Unfortunately, former champions Ian Wall & Lin Roff were unable to get the better of Mitch Jones & Jo Hills. Eric Green’s unlucky streak continued as he finished runner-up again, this time in the Veterans Over 40s final. The Ladies Singles final saw Dawn Baldry defeat Jo Hills after an epic comeback. In the Mens Singles final, Reece Seddon achieved runner-up and was only beaten by the exceptional Mitch Jones (Stanford TTC). Ian Wall and Daniel Bronziet also made the semi-finals.
