Basildon TTC won not only one division in the Southend League, but two! Basildon A made it back-to-back promotions as they topped Division 1, following on from their success of winning Division 2 last season. And in Division 3, Basildon B left their closest challengers in the dust as they topped the table with a 16-point gap.
Les Hoey and Arun Joy
Basildon A, led by captain Stephen Walters, had a close battle yet again with rivals Matchpoint A at the top of the Division 1 table. Despite winning fewer overall matches, they finished 7 points clear thanks to the bigger margins of their victories. The team’s two main men, Les Hoey and Arun Joy, both had an excellent season and picked up 69 points between them! They’ll no doubt be looking forward to challenging themselves in the Premier Division next season.

Basildon B had an impressive season in Division 3, only losing one match. Their captain Andy Roff led by example as he played nearly every match and maintained a 91% win rate. He was ably supported by teammates Dave Walton and Richard Riebold. Looks like we’ll have to make some room the club trophy cabinet!
