The 2025 Southend Table Tennis League Closed Championships recently took place at Rayleigh Leisure Centre. Saturday 15 February saw the restricted singles day take place and we are proud to announce that Les Hoey won the Division 1 singles event. He justified his billing of top seed and saw off all the competition to take the crown. In his semi-final, he beat clubmate Arun Joy in a great match. In the final he was up against the most famous player in the league Paul Brown (who was playing in the Division 1 restricted event, despite his regular claims of being a ‘Premier player’). Paul started off strong and went into 2-0 lead but Les was not to be denied. He fought back valiantly and secured a 3-2 victory.
